Robyn Bennett

I have always been passionate about health and safety, and I have worked in various roles related to this field for over two decades. However, I felt that there was something missing in the way that health and safety was managed and communicated in many organisations. I wanted to create a more engaging and effective way of helping people to improve their well-being and performance at work. That's when Rob approached me with an idea. He had a vision of a company that would provide innovative and tailored health and safety solutions to clients across different sectors and industries. He asked me if I wanted to join him as a co-founder and director of this company, and I agreed without hesitation. I saw this as a great opportunity to use my skills and experience to make a positive difference in the world.

We are likely to see the maturing of health and safety understanding in businesses, who are then identifying the need for additional external specialist support. More and more organisations are realising the importance and benefits of having a robust and effective health and safety management system, not only for compliance purposes, but also for improving their performance, culture, and reputation. This is where I think we come in, especially when we do audit or reviews. We offer a fresh eyes approach, testing and prodding health and safety systems so organisations can know where they are strong, and where there is an opportunity to strengthen.

Steve Tate, Manager at Lowe Walker (now Silver Fern Farms) was instrumental in starting my journey of study, which subsequently lead to my career in health and safety. Personally, I think he did it to keep me busy, else I would have been an annoying employee.

I hold the role of President of the New Zealand Institute of Health and Safety Management, with the goal of championing, suporting, and advocating health and safety practitioners and professionals in the roles. In my spare time, I like to hike with our dog, Brie.
